I took photos with my sister at my favorite spot in Carlsbad last week. It’s been a while since I’ve had photos taken of just myself – and while we were there and as I was uploading the photos onto my computer, I realized how much I missed it. A little odd for some, I know. But I also realize that life is too short to not do more of the things that make you happy.
This is one of them: taking photos, dressing up, finding a beautiful place and watching the gorgeous sunset. I also realize how much I love to be the one taking the photos and I hope to be behind the lens more this coming year as well.
As you can tell from the date of my last post, I took quite a bit of a break from blogging (and from social media in general). I love fashion and posting photos of my outfits in the hopes of inspiring others. But, to be honest it started to consume my life, I was feeling pressure and competition and was questioning the point in it. Though, as superficial as it sounds, it’s something that simply brings me joy and I have to remember that this is why I started blogging initially.
Last summer, I dove deep into a personal development journey and while making an OGSM board with my coach, I pulled out an article from Cosmopolitan Magazine that I had been saving since college. It was from the August 2002 issue (I’m aging myself!), titled “4 Crucial Questions to Ask Yourself.” I remembered that I had those same feelings of being “lost” that I felt over 15 years ago. And while that article is definitely geared towards a younger demographic, the underlying message still applies to me today: Do More of what Makes you Happy. For me, one of those things is this: sharing photos of myself, my outfit, my story as a creative outlet to encourage, inspire and connect with other women.
I’m excited to share more of my voice and my journey with you. And if you’re interested in reading the article from Cosmopolitan Magazine, shoot me an email and I will send you a pdf copy <3
