I was really intrigued when I heard about the new denim line at Target and even more interested when I heard that the brand’s motto is “Do-good denim: striving to make a positive impact.” Since discovering the positive effects of mindfulness this past year, I’ve been determined to find ways to integrate more intention into my life and incorporating a more mindful approach to fashion and shopping just makes sense. Also, I’ve been on the hunt for a new pair of jeans that fit my current “in-between” size and the Universal Thread x Target Demin is the perfect price point during this transition.
I ordered several pairs, including the high-rise skinnies, high-rise released hem skinny jeans, and the high-rise jeggings. They all fit a little larger than expected and had quite a bit of stretch to them. I ended up keeping the high-rise released hem skinnies because of the fit and hem-line, though I highly recommend going 1 or 2 sizes down because they will stretch with wear.
I wore them for the first time a couple weeks ago to happy hour with friends at Bodega Wine Bar in Santa Monica. I love how the released hem-line gives a more elevated look and the button closure adds an interesting touch.
After a little more research, it seems that only some of Universal Thread’s jeans are made with recycled cotton and/or finished using Kitotex (a process that reduces water usage, energy consumption and chemicals). However, I appreciate the brand moving towards the right direction. The Environmentally-friendly denim feature that the jeans that I ended up keeping have are Repreve pockets, a material made from recycled plastic bottles.
I’m overall satisfied with my purchase, especially at this price point, since my size keeps fluctuating. I’ve already worn them 4 times in the last 2 weeks! Have you tried the Universal Thread x Target line? If so, what do you think of it?
